Nourishing Hawai‘i’s Future: Farm to School Market Briefing & Gathering

The Nourishing Hawai‘i’s Future: Farm to School Market Briefing & Gathering is a state-led convening designed to strengthen connections between Hawai‘i’s agricultural community and institutional food procurement opportunities within the Hawai‘i State Department of Education (HIDOE). Hosted in partnership with the Agribusiness Development Corporation and supported by industry collaborators including the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and the Culinary Institute of the Pacific (CIP), the gathering brings together farmers, ranchers, fishermen, distributors, processors, and other food system stakeholders to better align local production with HIDOE’s future food purchasing needs.

The event will provide participants with direct insight into projected procurement priorities for the 2027–2028 school year and the Central O‘ahu Regional Kitchen, including anticipated commodities, product specifications, volume needs, and procurement pathways.

As collaborators in the event, CIA and CIP support broader efforts to advance Hawai‘i’s local food systems through culinary education, workforce development, and industry engagement. Together with HIDOE and agricultural partners across the state, the gathering reflects a shared commitment to expanding market opportunities for local producers while helping build a more resilient and sustainable food future for Hawai‘i.
