Objective:
We invite students from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) to create an original/non-traditional use of Unilever Food Service Products. Eight finalists will compete in a live cook-off event held at the CIA Hyde Park Campus on November 16, 2024 for prizes.
To compete:
You have to be a full-time student at the CIA.

Round 1
Video Submission (September 16-October 2, 2024)
Students will be tasked with submitting a 60-second video explaining their concept and how they will utilize a UFS Future Menus trend in a non-traditional recipe. Videos will be judged on originality of recipe, creativity, message content and technical organization (sound and picture quality). This is your opportunity to sell your idea and why you chose the specific Future Menu trend you did.
Recipes must also incorporate a Unilever Food Solutions ingredient from Hellmann’s or Knorr.
Please be sure to keep your video to 60 seconds or less and the size cannot exceed 100MB. Use the link on the previous page to submit your entry.
Round 2
Finalists will be notified via email by October 10, 2024. Eight finalists will receive samples of UFS products to prepare their recipe. Finalists will work with their CIA mentor on the final recipe to be submitted to the judging panel, no later than November 16, 2024.
Also make sure you:
- Each student must sign a release waiver, giving rights to UFS to use the contestant’s recipe(s), photo, videos, name, and likeness as they see fit to publicize the competition.
- To be considered, your recipe must be submitted no later than November 16, 2024 along with recipe entry form(s) and recipe release waiver.
Materials:
UFS will provide ingredients for the finalists of the competition. Additional materials/ingredients will be provided by the CIA.
The Final
In the final competition, recipes will be prepared by finalists and presented to a panel of approximately four judges. Finalists will have two hours to cook and prepare four portions (plus 1 portion for photos) of their recipe for the judges. Each finalist will be given three minutes to present and inform the judges how they developed their original finished recipe.
Prepared dishes will be judged based upon creativity of the recipe, flavor profile of the ingredients used in the recipe, use of UFS ingredients, originality of the named recipe.

Contestants from other CIA locations within the USA, will have to travel to CIA Hyde Park paid for by UFS and must abide to CIA travel policies.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Any CIA student in good standing at the Hyde Park, Greystone , Copia, and San Antonio campus can participate. Only one submission per student.
GENERAL CONDITIONS: Winners will be notified in person and may be required to complete, sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability Release. Each participant agrees that UFS and the CIA has the right to decide all matters and disputes arising in this competition and that all decisions are final and binding. By acceptance of the prizes, each winner agrees to release, indemnify and hold harmless UFS and the CIA, as well as each of their respective parent and affiliated companies, and each of their employees, representatives, contractors, advertisers from any and all liability, loss, damage, cost or claim related to any allegation regarding the acceptance or use of their prize. Any unclaimed prize will not be awarded. UFS and the CIA reserve the right, at their sole discretion to cancel, modify or terminate the promotion. Video submissions must be deemed family friendly, in the sole discretion of Sponsor. Video must not violate trademark, copyright, privacy or any other rights of any other person. Videos may not contain expressions of hate, abuse, offensive images or conduct, obscenity or pornography or any material that could give rise to any civil or criminal liability under applicable law or regulations. Video submissions must not include third party trademarks, logos, insignia, location signage, photographs, artwork, or sculptures and any music that isn’t originally written, performed and produced by the entrant. Video submissions should not include third parties, including but not limited to minors, celebrities and friends who have not expressly authorized entrants to display their image, likeness or voice in any submitted video or otherwise use such image, likeness or voice in accordance with these Official Rules.
LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE: No liability or responsibility is assumed by UFS or the CIA resulting from any user’s participation in or attempt to participate in the promotion or ability or inability to upload or download any information in connection with participating in the promotion. UFS and the CIA are not responsible for any typographical errors in the announcement of prizes or these rules. UFS and the CIA are not responsible for any personal injury or property damage or losses of any kind which may be sustained to user’s or any other person’s computer equipment resulting from participation in the promotion. By participating, each participant releases UFS and the CIA from any and all claims, damages or liabilities arising from or relating to such entrant’s participation.
UFS has the rights to utilize the recipe in its original state in advertising, public relations and promotional purposes in any media without attribution or compensation. By entering the competition, the entrant consents to the use of his/her name and likeness for advertising and promotional purposes without compensation. In the event of the noncompliance, alternate winners will be selected.
